A fire alarm in a reposessed home can cause problems.

Fire departments in Arizona are fed up with the credit crunch. When a fire alarm goes off in a foreclosed home, fire fighters can't enter the home until they see smoke or have obtained the owner's permission. That can take some time. So neighbours end up having to listen to the alarm for days on end.

I just hope the rules are different in the UK.....
