2 Porsches scrapped for Kias

Be careful what you crunch

I used to be a big Twitter sceptic, but I'm gradually becoming a convert. You can pick up nice little snippets of information.

Here's one I spotted this afternoon. It's from a guy called Jon Walsh who does PR for Kia. He says that as part of the car scrappage scheme, Kia dealers have scrapped 30 BMWs, 53 Mercs, 5 Jags and 2 Porsches.

I'm a bit sad about this. I've no emotional objection to the scrapping of old Vauxhall Cavaliers or Ford Escorts. But old Mercs! They're lovely cars. My dad has a 20-year old Mercedes 190 and it's a beauty.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Kia. I'm sure their cars are great. If you want to get a good price on a Kia, just go to your local and dealer and negotiate hard.

But please don't crunch old cars that are on the verge of becoming classics.

I think I'll give electric cars a miss, seeing as I've read of too many people claiming to feel ill while driving them due to the enormous electro-magnetic fields within the car.

I think the people that scapped Porsches are loonies. Surely an old Porsche is worth more than £2K, unless a total heap, and then the bits are valuable.

Some Mercs are classics, SLs etc, but some are just boring boxes that are pretty mundane.

As for Kias, was not that an orange drink? Do not sound very attractive as cars, bit tedious.
