Stock up on tea bags before 15% rise!

The price of PG Tips is set to rise 15% next month.

I was sorry to see that the price of PG Tips is set to rise 15% next month - I normally down 6 or 7 cups of PG Tips tea each day, sometimes more.

Apparently the rise is due to droughts, the falling pound, and increased demand in India and China.

So my money-saving plan is to stock up on tea bags tomorrow before the prices rise. I've had a quick look at prices over on Mysupermarket, and Tesco is the best place to buy tea at the moment.

Tesco's cheapest offer on PG Tips is for 80 'Pyramid Tea Bags' at £1.37. That works out at 1.7p per bag. (I don't know about you, but I'm really not bothered about the shape of a tea bag. As long as it's a bag. With some tea leaves. I'm happy.)

You can get an even cheaper tea bag if you go for Tesco's own-brand 'value' range. A box of 80 bags costs 28p, which works out at just 0.4p a bag. Sounds great! I'm going to give them a try.....

Do you have any suggestions on tea?  Can you recommend a brand that is cheap and tastes good? Let me know in the comments box at the bottom of this blog.

I drink Sainsbury's red label tea, which I find to be great tasting. I only ever get PG when they're on offer and it has to be a good offer to make it worth the while. I've tried the basics teabags and they are most definitely the floor sweepings, blurgh!!!! Red label were on offer (not sure if they still are) last week and week before so we stocked up. But as we both drink around 8-10 cups a day each our little stockpile won't last too long!

Best place for tea bags is Netto, e.g. Tetley 240's for £2.49, Twinings Everyday 1,760 for £12.99 but these can change weekly. Always good offers on wine too! I'm lucky enough to live near one of their stores so check their website www.netto.co.uk for details.
